From the Principal's Desk

Hello, Theuerkauf families!

It has been another excellent week of teaching and learning for our Cheetahs! On Friday, we were so privileged to have six phenomenal visitors on campus with us who were able to see some of this excellence firsthand. We were joined by three of our amazing MVWSD board members, Trustee Berman, Trustee Blakely, and Trustee Wheeler, and by our esteemed Superintendent, Dr. Rudolph, as well as our Chief Communications Officer, Shelly Hausman, and our Communications Specialist, Corinne Mitchner. We are so grateful for the care and dedication to our students that our district leadership demonstrates, and we thank them for their support! We can't wait to invite the team back again as the year progresses so that they can continue to see all of the wonderful things our students and staff are doing.

Parents, thank you as well for your support and dedication to your child's learning experience at school! Please remember that you can help enrich your child's learning at home, too. Simply pick a book to read together with your child for 10-15 minutes each day to continue to build their reading skills, and then talk with your child about what they learned. It's just that simple! You will create a beautiful moment of bonding while also helping your child to continue to build the reading comprehension skills that come with this kind of activity and discussion. Looking for a book to read together? Ask your child about their weekly library book or click here to find lots of free online books.

Together, we make a difference!

Yours in service,

Michelle Williams, Principal

Welcome, new team members!

We are privileged to be able to welcome two new team members to the Theuerkauf staff!

Mr. Marlon Portillo has joined us in the capacity of At Risk Intervention Specialist (ARIS). You will see Mr. Portillo often at the gates in the morning and afternoon. He is already working so hard to build caring and supportive relationships with students as he bolsters their success with academics, positive behavior, and social and emotional skills.

We are also beyond excited to welcome a new TK Instructional Assistant, Ms. Bianca Millan. Ms. Millan comes to us with a wealth of childcare experience, and she is already showing so much support to our littlest Cheetahs by providing an extra level of support during both academic and constructive play times.

Welcome, Mr. Portillo and Ms. Millan! We are so happy to have you on board.

Concentric Pooled Testing - Coming Soon!

On Friday and Monday, we will do a dry run for the Concentric pooled COVID testing so that we can all practice and learn the routines. Then on October 13th, we will begin testing with a select number of classes for our first round of pooled tests through Concentric.  If you have not yet given consent for your child to be tested, or if you would like to change your consent, it’s not too late!  Every Wednesday, we will pull our list of students to be tested the following week.  In addition to helping us slow the spread on campus, consenting to testing also has an added benefit: if there is a positive case in your child’s classroom, the rest of the class can go on a modified quarantine per county guidelines. That means students can continue to attend school, as long as they are tested immediately and on day 5 after exposure and they are asymptomatic.  Students with consent on file will be tested at school--meaning no disruption of school days.  Students without consent will need to stay home until they have their test outside of school--meaning they will miss school days.  If you would like more information, please see our district website.  You can also call our front office.

Picture Day Retakes

Picture Retake day is coming on Monday, October 18, 2021.  If you want your student’s  picture retaken, simply return your original package with your child on Picture Retake Day.  Be sure to remind your student to let their teacher know that they are requesting a retake.  Also, those students who were absent on picture day back in September will have their pictures taken on October 18th as well. An adult will escort those students from their classroom to the MUR where the photographer will be set up.
