From the Principal's Desk

Hello, Theuerkauf families,

This week, we are celebrating our wonderful teachers and staff who make Theuerkauf such an amazing place to learn and grow.  Every staff member at Theuerkauf--from teachers and instructional assistants to office managers, library technicians, food service workers, and maintenance staff--works tirelessly to ensure that students feel safe, valued, and known at school so that they can grow and learn at high levels. On behalf of the Theuerkauf staff, thank you for your kind words and tokens of appreciation this week--they have really filled our buckets!

On Thursday night, we will also be celebrating our multilingual students who have met the requirements to be reclassified as Fluent English Proficient at our district’s annual Reclassification Celebration, 5/11 @ 5-7pm in the Crittenden Middle School quad. These remarkable students have demonstrated English language proficiency on a standardized assessment and reading proficiency on a district or state assessment. We are so proud of them!

We still need parent members for our School Site Council next year!  It is a great way to learn more about the school and get to know the school leadership.  Please click here if you are interested or if you would like to nominate another parent, staff member, or community member.

As always, thank you for your partnership! Together, we make a difference.

Sincerely,

Michelle Williams, Principal

Library News

Please remember to help your student find their library books and return them this week AND next week. The last week of library visits for classes will be the week of May 15-19.

Summer Reading programs are a wonderful way to encourage the love of reading for your student. Here are links for the programs in our area:

Thank you for supporting the Theuerkauf Library this year! Our arts and music section needs some updating--here's a wishlist for our library.

Morning Routine Adjustments

Thank you for adjusting and shifting the way that you drop students off in the morning! As long as the weather remains clear, we will continue to line up on the blacktop at 8am each morning rather than in the MUR. We are all loving the fresh air!

For supervision purposes, we ask that students please line up with their classes from 8-8:15 am rather than playing games or playing on the play structures. We thank you in advance for your support and help with this.

Happy AAPI Heritage Month! This May, we celebrate and honor the diverse cultures, traditions, and contributions of the Asian American and Pacific Islander community. As we reflect on this important month, let us also remember the importance of being proud - having pride in who we are, where we come from, and what we bring to the world. Let's take this opportunity to stand in solidarity with our AAPI friends and family and celebrate our shared values of inclusivity, diversity, and acceptance.
