Principal's Message |
Dear Cheetah Community,
What an amazing, fantastic, fun, and rainy event our Dia del Nino celebration was on Friday! I am continually impressed by the dedication of the Theuerkauf community. On Friday, when dismissal time came, it had started to change from a drizzle to actual rain, and I was so nervous that everyone would pick up their students and go home. But you did not go home - you stayed! It was such a testament to our community’s commitment to its students. Also, it helped that we had a helicopter on the field!
We owe so many thanks to so many people: Thank you to the Coast Guard for providing this once in a lifetime experience for our students, thank you to the parents who spent so much time planning, setting up, clearing up. Thank you to everyone involved with arranging the talent show and for the Folkloric Dancing to be here. Thank you to those who donated food and items. Thank you to the MVPD, MVFD, the City of Mountain View, the District Office staff, and Stevenson school who also had to shelter-in-place (twice) so that we could make this happen.
Here are couple of photos from the event:

We even got to see Principal Danielle Lyons and Baby Stella:

But most of all, Thank you to Ms Lisset Tellez who spent countless hours doing all of the coordination for this event which, even with the downpour, went off perfectly. Here she is, letting us all know that it was time to go home:

MVEF Gala
Theuerkauf had a good showing at the MVEF Gala last week as well! Fun was had by all, and funds were raised to support programs that are available to all students in the district. If you have not contributed to MVEF yet this year, you still can! The dollars are a good investment in our students.
Testing
Thank you for sending your students to school well rested, confident, and having had a good breakfast. The students are cheered on each day at the front gate by a combination of staff and other students - it makes for a happy entrance every morning! This week is Math week, and the students are really working hard. Next week 5th graders will show what they know in Science, and the week after that we will finish up with iReady Math and Reading. Thank you for your support!
Reclassification Ceremony
Please join us on Thursday May 1, 2025 at Crittenden Middle School at 5:00pm for the Reclassification Ceremony, whether you have a student to celebrate or not. Reclassification represents an important milestone for our multilingual students, and we cannot wait to congratulate them!

Important Notice RE: Items dropped off during school hours.
One of our core values at Theuerkauf is Responsibility. There has been a large increase in items forgotten and dropped off items during the day. Sometimes it is challenging to get items to students in a timely manner and we want to minimize interruptions of lessons during class time so all students can stay focused on their education.
Please support your child at home by going through a quick checklist before leaving: Warm jacket, hat or gloves if needed, lunch box, backpack, instrument, homework, etc.
Thank you for supporting our core value of Responsibility and minimizing classroom interruptions.
If you do need to drop off a forgotten item please label it with the following so there is no confusion or mix ups. Please note that the office staff will do their best to get it to the students in a timely manner:
-
Student name
-
Grade

Library News
Theuerkauf library will close on May 16, 2023 to allow for end-of-year processes. Please help your student find all of their library books and return them in a timely manner. If books have been lost or damaged, please contact Mrs. Baikie at [email protected]or stop by the library. Options to replace lost/damaged books are:
(1) Replace the book. The book can be used–it does not have to be new.
(2) Replace the book with another title. Books from Little Free Libraries that are in good condition are a great way to replace one title with a different title.
(3) Work with Mrs. Baikie to find a solution.
The Mountain View Public Library has their Summer Reading webpage up for students to register. There is a Summer Reading Kick-Off on Monday, June 9th from 6:30-7:30 pm. Stop into the Mountain View Public Library to learn more about the programs offered for families and sign up for a free library card. You can get Free & Discounted Museum Passes, California State Parks Passes, and more. The services at our Mountain View Public Library are excellent–there’s even a Seed Library!
