 Principal's Message

Diwali Celebration!

Happy Diwali to all of our Cheetah families! I wanted to give a special thank you to the Theuerkauf families who created this beautiful Rangoli design to help us celebrate and bring us good luck!

Veterans Day

Just a reminder that we do not have school this Friday on Veterans Day. I want to take this opportunity to give a heartfelt thank you to all of the veterans in our community. Your dedication, sacrifice, and commitment to protecting our freedoms are deeply appreciated. I am grateful for you, including my own family members, who have served and are still serving. Thank you veterans for your service.

No Place For Hate

Theuerkauf cheetahs have been gearing up for No Place For Hate Week from November 13-17th. During our monthly assembly we had a big focus on our core value of responsibility. Part of the No Place for Hate pledge says, “Everyone should be able to feel safe and happy in school”. We are focusing on this by teaching students that each person needs to be responsible for their words, body language, and actions. Below is a poster with our spirit week days to celebrate No Place for Hate Week. Please participate in our spirit week to show your support for No Place for Hate at Theuerkauf.

Gate Locking Communication

For student and staff safety, it's very important for our school to limit points of entry during school hours. As you know, we have been working on enabling the locks on our field gates during the school day. Beginning Nov. 27, the field gates will be locked from the outside shortly after the last morning bell rings. It is very important that we eliminate tardiness so students get the education they deserve right from the first bell. However, if they are tardy, please have them go in through the front office and pick up a tardy slip from Ms. Gaby or Ms. Sherri. If there is anything we can do to support on time arrival for school. Please reach out. Parents will be able access school field gates for student pick up when the dismissal bell rings. The public will continue to have access to school fields on weekends and on weekday evenings after 4 p.m. at elementary schools and after 5 p.m. at middle schools.  If the gates malfunction after hours, you can call (650) 526-3248 x1004. Thank you for supporting our safety procedures.

Planning ahead for conferences & Parent University on Effective Communication!

Conferences will be held Monday, December 4th - Friday, December 8th. This week will be a full week of minimum days to allow for great conversation and collaboration between families, teachers, and students. More information will come out shortly on how to sign up for conferences. Please start to think about what date works best for you that week. Conferences are strongly preferred to take place in person, but also available online if that works better for your schedule. Our goal is to get all parents to participate in these special meetings!

We will be hosting a Parent University on Monday, November 27th from 6-7pm to support effective communication between home and school with a focus on preparing for conferences. This will be on zoom with teachers and the principal. There will be time to answer questions at the end, so please feel free to ask!

Warm Regards,

Principal Danielle Lyons

Better Together: November

This month’s theme for #BetterTogetherMVWSD is Empathy. Empathy is fundamental in promoting understanding, compassion, and unity among individuals and communities. It enables us to connect with others on a deeper level, to share their joys and sorrows, and to stand in their shoes, even when we may not fully comprehend their experiences. Recognizing United Against Hate Week is an important time of year as it underscores the need to combat discrimination, prejudice, and bigotry in all their forms. By participating in this initiative, we reaffirm our commitment to fostering a community where empathy is not just a concept but a guiding principle that helps us build a world where people of all backgrounds can coexist harmoniously, free from fear and hatred. Join us as we recognize United Against Hate Week with activities and programming taking place November 13-17th at all school sites. For more information about Better Together, visit mvwsd.org/BetterTogetherMVWSD.
