 Principal's Message

Dear Cheetah Community,

Happy 100th day of school! We are so happy that we get to be a part of your child’s learning for these first 100 days. There is a lot of progress and success to celebrate! I need to share a celebration about our teachers and brag a little bit. As discussed at the principal’s coffee on Friday, teachers have been working hard and diving deep into data driven decision making. We have four data cycles a year where teachers use data to focus on the largest learning needs for the classroom. Teachers break down learning standards and look at all different factors of what went well for the last cycle and then how to improve strategies and build skills for the next cycle. Teachers create a clear action plan for all students based on their needs and success. We always reflect on our practice using these four critical questions by Rick DuFour:

  • What do we want all students to know and be able to do?

  • How will we know if they learn it?

  • How will we respond when some students do not learn?

  • How will we extend the learning for students who are already proficient?

We are able to do this great work during weekly staff meetings, professional development days and Thursday collaborations. The conversations our teachers have are so rich and in depth to support all students. We have some of the most dedicated and student focused teachers out there!

With that being said, please remember to re-enroll your child for Theuerkauf for next school year. Registration is now open!

Open Enrollment for ALL students started Monday, Jan 22nd!

It is time to open enrollment for ALL students (including returning students) for the 2024-2025 school year. Click onhttps://www.mvwsd.org/register for all the details.

Better Together: January

“There are all kinds of courage," said Dumbledore, smiling. "It takes a great deal of bravery to stand up to our enemies, but just as much to stand up to our friends." - J.K. Rowling, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone

Sometimes, being a good ally might mean standing up to our friends to protect someone else. In the month of January, MVWSD students will explore the essential question: How do I have a difficult conversation with someone? A thoughtful ally finds a way to express themselves respectfully and with an open mind. For more information about Better Together, visit mvwsd.org/BetterTogetherMVWSD.
